Saju (사주, "four pillars") takes the year, month, day and hour you were born and turns each into two characters — eight in all — from a solar calendar of 60-year, 60-day and 60-hour cycles. The reading is the balance between those eight characters, read by fixed rules. Nothing is sensed or channelled. Enter the same birth twice and you get the same chart, from us or from any master in Seoul.
No one intuits anything. The chart is computed from the calendar and the position of the sun at your birth; the interpretation follows written rules that anyone can check. That is why the basis is folded into every reading.
No planets, no zodiac signs, no birth-month horoscopes. Saju comes from a different lineage: the day-master method took its present form in Song-dynasty China roughly a thousand years ago, and Koreans have consulted it for centuries — before marriages, business decisions and new years.
A framework of five elements and their relationships, refined by generations of practitioners into a way of describing a person's tendencies: how they act outside and at home, what they reach for, where they wear out, and how the 10-year periods of a life sit against that base. A mirror, not a prophecy.
Date, time and city. Time unknown? You still get most of the chart. Born near an hour boundary or at 11 pm? We show you both possibilities instead of guessing.
Your eight characters and your day-pillar character — its one-line handle and the opening of its reading — computed from solar terms and true solar time, not a rough table.
One payment, shown instantly on this page and kept in your browser. Who you are, your 10-year periods, this year and next — with the basis folded away for readers who know the system.
"Quick mind, strategic. Reads situations and rides the current — finds a way wherever it lands. Sees wide. Not tied to one thing; runs several at once. Free, and hates being boxed in."
"Flexible on the outside, its own thing underneath. Looks like it drifts, but there is a source, and it ends up going its own way."
"Strategy, or cunning? Some readers call this person a strategist; others, full of small calculations. Both are here. If your plans run for years, it's the first; if you think on your feet case by case, the second."
Solar terms from an astronomical ephemeris, true solar time from your birthplace longitude, daylight-saving handled explicitly. Cross-checked against independent implementations on 1,010 day pillars.
A chart describes tendencies, not events. We never tell you that you will marry, have children or get rich — because the chart does not say that, and anyone who claims it does is guessing.
No account, no marketing email. Payment runs through Stripe; we never see your card. If a reading does not load, or you entered the wrong birth date, we fix it or refund you.
I didn't either, for a long time.
An elder in my mother's family had taken monastic vows and spent a lifetime studying saju at a temple. She read my chart from the time I was a child, so saju was never foreign to me — it was simply always there.
Even so, it took me years to read my own chart. Being told what your chart says and reading the sheet yourself are two different things. Chinese characters gave me a headache; the only ones I could write were the three in my own name.
So I started recording. I would nod along in the room, then go home and play it back one sentence at a time. Listening again, I found that behind all the difficult words there were only eight characters and a handful of steps.
A saju result sheet was never built for the person being read. It was built for the person doing the reading — a kitchen screen for the cook, not the plate that reaches the table. No one had made the version for the person the chart is about. That is what this site is.
Myo (묘, 妙) — “subtle, mysterious”
Yes. Tick "Time unknown". You get the year, month and day pillars, your day character and the 10-year luck. The hour pillar — the seat of children and later life — is left blank rather than invented.
Not the Western kind — no planets, no zodiac signs. Saju assigns two characters to your birth year, month, day and hour — eight in all — from a solar calendar of sixty-cycles, and reads the balance between them by fixed rules. It is the system Koreans consult before marriages, business decisions and new years. We present it as a mirror for reflection, not as prediction.
Everything for the birth data you entered, in one payment of $13.99 with no subscription: the full day-pillar text; love & marriage, money, career and health; the markers in your chart (Peach Blossom, Travelling Horse, White Tiger and the rest) and where they sit; every 10-year period; this year and next, month by month; your lucky colour, numbers and direction; your element talisman; the basis layer; and the whole reading as a PDF. A link to reopen it is emailed to you, and it stays open in the browser you paid in.
Schools differ, so we show both. Near an hour boundary we compute the chart on either side; in the 11 pm hour we show both day characters with their one-line handles so you can pick the one that sounds like you. After purchase you can switch these options for the same birth at no extra cost.
A reading is a digital product shown the moment you pay, so all sales are final once it is displayed. Two exceptions, always honored: if the reading did not load after payment, or you entered the wrong birth date, email support@sajupillars.com and we will re-issue it for the right date or refund you.
